I’m a multidisciplinary artist and designer working across painting, illustration, photography, and writing.
As a beauty seeker, planet lover, and cultivator of wonder and hope, I specialize in storytelling grounded in curiosity and joy.
The intricate beauty and underlying intelligence of living systems fuel my creative process. I maintain an ongoing study of natural design principles, observing how plants, animals, and landscapes solve complex challenges through elegant solutions.
My signature storytelling method combines evocative language with research-driven curiosity and a commitment to highlighting life’s meaningful moments.
Experience
Fine Art I paint in both contemporary abstract and representational styles, creating nature-inspired visual haikus. For over ten years, I’ve been developing acrylic, watercolor, and ink paintings and illustrations.
Design I’ve served as a designer on numerous business storytelling projects, giving voice and vision to the narratives of various companies, organizations, institutions, and communities. My skills include photography, designing websites, presentations, and social marketing campaigns.
Writing I craft nature-inspired stories and poems, often weaving together personal experiences with vivid descriptions of the natural world.
Workshops I’ve led project-based workshops in creativity and personal storytelling, helping others develop their creative voices. Over ten years, I led educational photography programs in San Francisco, Berlin, and Munich.
As a photography art administrator, I created instructional materials, conducted workshops, established a visiting artist program, and curated exhibitions.
Marlene is available for marketing, illustration, and editorial assignments, teaching opportunities, and creative collaborations.
Do you have a story to tell? I am always on the lookout for new projects.
